A citizen’s petition is being circulated asking our Federal elected officials to assist Auburn in obtaining more funds to maintain and continue the shaded fuel break along the American River canyon rim. Should the Chamber make these petitions available at all Chamber functions to collect signatures.

Yes, making a petition available regarding this community concern would be good. The recent 49 Fire awakened our awareness of how devestating a canyon fire “unchecked” could be, how fast the fire could move out of the canyon, and the losses to our community that would follow.

I have to agree. The 49 fire should be a wake up call to this community, it can happen in any area. Whatever it takes to keep Auburn safe from that type of devistation needs to be a priority.

I have not seen the petition, but agree that we should make every effort to have it available at Chamber functions.
