This is going to be a big year for biking in Auburn. There will be many races augmented by the biggie – The Amgen Tour in May. Tell us what you think! This week the Chamber will bring together bike shop owners and representatives from the Endurance Capital Committee, Placer Visitors Center, Auburn Economic Development Commission, Placer County Transportation Planning Agency (PCTPA), as well as a leadership representative from the City of Auburn and Placer County to see if we can leverage all of our efforts into a really big year to promote all kinds of biking in Auburn. We believe we can collectively build programs to make Auburn truly stand out. What say you all?

Here we are at the beginning of the New Year; and Bill Radakovitz (Retired, Nancie’s Records / Downtown Auburn) begins his year as Chamber President. The Chamber will kick-off its 104th Year with the Installation & Awards Dinner on Saturday, January 16th. The Chamber begins 2010 with a promise, a Chamber promise; it is a promise to always be wherever and whenever needed to assist business and community ~ as the Chamber has for the past 104 years. We are experiencing some new energy in our community, and business continues to adjust, adapt and in some cases reinvent itself to meet today’s economic challenges. Share your thoughts, your outlook for business and community as we begin this New Year. It’s your business…..at the chamber! What say you all?

It happens every Tuesday morning in the Rose Room at City Hall. Originally established as the Chamber Economic Development Committee in 1966, it had been referred to as “The Breakfast Club” back in the 1980′s, and now it is often referred to as “The Meddler’s” or “The Tuesday Morning Meddler’s”. We meddled today as we do every Tuesday at 7:00am. Steve Galyardt highlighted a recent Monday night dinner he and Leslie enjoyed at the home of Joanne Neft; a dinner featuring Placer Grown produce and more (the entire dinner locally produced in Placer County) and deserving of a Rachel Rae Award. Auburn Mayor Mike Holmes and Placer County Supervisor Jim Holmes highlighted the latest and most noteworthy happenings in local government, and our special guest speaker today was Tom Miller, the County Executive, pushing numbers around, talking dollars and cents, and bringing the challenges of the County budget to life for all of us in attendance this morning. Whether you think of it as Economic Development, the Breakfast Club, the Meddler’s ~ or the Forum…it’s the Chamber place to be on Tuesday mornings in Auburn, California.
